2016 WIQP Mobile Postings

Below are WIQP-related postings from direct email, the WIQP reflector and County Hunters Website, Planned Trips page.

NRØT - CW Only

Wisconsin QSO Party mobile route

1800 - 1830 Barron
1850 - 1920 Washburn
2005 - 2035 Sawyer
2050 - 2120 Bayfield
2140 - 2210 Douglas
2325 - 2355 Burnett
0030 - 0100 Polk

All CW. 50 KHz above the bottom of the band, give or take 5-10 KHz

Before 2300z: 20 meters first, then QSY to 40.  After 2300z: 40 meters first, then QSY to 80 Bands are subject to change depending on conditions.

I don't have a driver this year, so I will only be operating while stopped. The blank times in the above schedule are drive time between counties. Times are approximate.

On APRS check for NR0T-9.

W9MSE - Jeff - CW Only

Tentative route for 2016 WIQP for W9MSE, weather and health permitting (Hopefully my driver and I escape the flu that is present now in the family).

Probable order of counties after I pick up my son to be driver in Dane county.

Green,  Lafayette, Iowa, Sauk, Richland, Grant, Crawford, Vernon, Monroe, Juneau, Wood, Portage, Adams, Waushara, Marquette, Columbia, Dane.

All operation CW, primarily 20 and 40 meters with very little 80 meters due to poor antenna for that band.  Hope to hear and work everyone often.

Have fun!  73  Jeff  W9MSE

WO9B - Mike - CW only

Here's my planned route:  Clark, Jackson, Wood, Monroe, Juneau

I will be operating CW only on 20 and 40 at each stop.  Seeing how things go, I may try 80 for a couple of calls, but later in the day I'll drop 20 in favor of 80.  For my personal sanity, the goal is the above 5 counties, but if all goes well, I could add Adams to the list.  I don't win many lotteries, so I will be thrilled to make it to the 5 counties.

N9NE - Todd

Greetings!

I plan on operating 'solo' mobile in this this year's WIQP from the four adjoining counties of Portage (POR), Marathon (MAR), Shawano (SHA), and Waupaca (WAP). The route utilizes county roads which circle the point of intersection of the counties. I'll be driving only a few miles between spots where I'll park and operate ... no operation in motion. I may be able to operate twice from each county as the afternoon progresses and propagation changes.

Most operation will be on 20 and 40M CW and SSB, but I will occasionally monitor 15M and then go to on 80M CW during the last hour. My intent this year is to spend much more time in S&P mode for other mobiles and county multipliers than in the past.

I'm with Mike (WO9B) who wrote "I am awash in technical glitches for my planned rover operation."  The effort of basically building a temporary ham station in my van is not easy. Age, arthritis, and recent back and rotator cuff surgeries conspire to make erecting and tuning the Hustlers and Hamsticks mag-mouted atop the van a physical ordeal. I've also been trouble-shooting some issues between the K3 and N1MM logger in the laptop that hadn't appeared previously in the shack.

Is it worth it?  Absolutely! Hope to work you on the 13th.  If the weather is really bad (snowstorm), I'll operate from the home station here in POR.

Todd, N9NE
Amherst, WI

K0PC, Pat

I will operate W9DND/M from VERnon, LACrosse, MONroe, JACkson, TREmpealeau, BUFfalo, PEPin, EAU Claire, CHIppewa, RUSk, BARron, POLk, ST Croix, PIErce. All CW primarily on 40/20M with quick excursions to 15M runs on 80M at the end.

This is the same route from 2015. I am lucky to be joined by my old driver John, W9DND this year.

Pat  K0PC

Counties planned. Waukesha, Racine, Walworth, Jefferson, Rock, Dane, Green, Lafayette, Iowa, Crawford, Richland, Sauk, Columbia, Dodge, Washington.

After taking last year off from running around Wisconsin, W9HB and KF9D will activate some counties on 3/13. Itinerary includes, WAL, KEN, RAC, WAU, JEF, DOD, COL, SAU, IOW, LAF, GRE, ROC.  The loop around Dane county includes fewer counties than previous routes, but gets us out and about for a fun run.  Operation will be CW on 20/40,  (don't have an 80m ant for the new wheels) and we will be on V/UHF and APRS.

‘Safe travels’ to all mobiles.

K9TIT/m Route - Tim

Here is the route and counties that K9TIT plans on operating for the QSO party this year. I might still tweak the route that we take in order to spend more or less time in a particular county.

We'll be in;

Door, Kewaunee, Brown, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Dodge, Green Lake, Waushara, Waupaca, Winnebago.

We cut back the number of counties that we are going to attempt to get since we had to modify our route on the go last year and cut some counties out due to time. Hopefully this route will work well for us.

My plan is to work the following counties:

KC0DMF anticipated counties

St Croix, Polk, Barron, Burnett, Washburn, Douglas, Bayfield, Sawyer, Ashland, Iron, Vilas, Oneida, Price, Lincoln, Marathon, Taylor

I'll be on 20m until I'm forced to move to 80m.

You can find me with APRS using KC0DMF-9.  Good luck to all mobile/rover operators!

Thanks to everyone who participates in WIQP and especially the mobiles.  Good luck to everyone!

     73 and be safe,
 -  Tom, K9BTQ

W0ZQ - Jon

…my ability to get the mobile set up for Sunday and the WiQP is iffy right now.  Just too much stuff to do.  If I can get motivated, I may do a reduced mobile route, TBD.   Looks like the weather will be good which is certainly a plus this time of year.
